2.  We Must Involve local nonviolent groups on all sides of the conflict Peace begins with those who are peaceful and then spreads to their neighbors and friends.  As a Nation, we can do nothing without the confidence and trust  of local Peace making groups from all sides of the conflict.  This means joining with those with whom we may not feel comfortable, and with those with a different perspective, flag, religious faith, and national loyalties.  This also means joining with other nations and the international court of justice.  Too often our leaders fear Peace groups and shun their advice.

Peace Maker Wendy Lehman, tells us that CPT (Christian Peacemaker Teams) will not go to any country/site without an invitation.  "The actions we participate in are locally guided by and organized with those affected most by the conflict (i.e. in Hebron, working with palestinians and, when possible, israeli peacemakers who are from outside Hebron - but because palestinians are the most affected in Hebron, we listen to their advice and invitation before moving forward)

At our [CPT] team meeting this morning we talked about how our actions and those of ICAHD have succeeded in putting the issue of home demolitions on the table for the negotiations between Palestinians, Israelis, and Americans.  We heard that U.S. Secretary of State Madeline Albright gets more letters about home demolitions than about any other Middle East issue.  This is a result of coordinated concrete action on the ground....
